THE HCG DIET

THE HCG DIET

The HCG DIET, which has been used successfully since the 1950s, is having an unparalleled upswing in popularity again over the past couple of years.  In my practice it is typical to see requests for this protocol to triple at this time of year when people are looking for a rapid weight loss method that works in anticipation of Summer's outdoor activities.

HCG, or Human Chorionic Gonadotropin, is a hormone that increases to a very high level during pregnancy.  When given in much smaller doses over a 28 to 40 day duration of the Diet program, it enables a patient to maintain a very restricted caloric intake without experiencing the degree of hunger they otherwise would.  It is also believed to help mobilize unhealthy fat and reset one's metabolism for lasting results.

If you are one of the many people who are frustrated by minimal weight loss despite rigorous dieting and strenuous exercise, or if you have typically regained lost weight and then some following other diets, you may want to consult your practitioner about the HCG Diet Program.  Read on for additional information and feel free to give me a call if you'd like to find out if this protocol is for you.

Are You Suffering from Undiagnosed Low Thyroid?

Do you often feel fatigued, depressed, indifferent?  Have trouble focusing, poor memory?  How about aching joints, cold hands and feet, dry skin and hair, thinning hair (especially the outer 1/3 of your eyebrows), puffy eyes and face? These are among many symptoms typical of Hypothyroidism.

It may even have occurred to you that you have Low Thyroid but a doctor has told you that your lab tests are normal.  But did your doctor include the tests that could have settled the question unequivocally?  Very often physicians may have requested an oft recommended screening test for thyroid disease that produced a "normal" result despite symptoms you know to be real.

Read on to see why your Naturopath would have felt your symptoms convincing enough to suggest the presence of thyroid pathology.  She would then have ordered more refined tests that provide a quantitative finding that reveals whether your serum levels of thyroid hormone are optimal, and not simply "normal" or "abnormal".   It's good to listen when your body speaks.
